Toys are important aids in the development of physical and mental skills which are necessary in later life.
One example of the dramatic ways that toys can influence child development involves clay sculpting toys such as Play-Doh and Silly Putty.

Toys for infants often make use of sounds and bright colors.
Many are particularly designed with education in mind like Fisher Price and Play Skool.
Using the imagination and creativity is encouraged by Dress-up Clothes and Tea-Sets, both my favourite games as a child!

Some new types of toys are created by accidental innovation.
Play-Doh for instance was created as a wallpaper cleaner of all things!

Children, will often put toys into their mouths, so the materials used have to be regulated to prevent poisoning.
